TIGERFLIGHT SCHOOL PROGRAM

Richard B Russell Airport Rome, Georgia
4th & 8th Grade Can you find all 6 simple machines in an airplane? GPS S4P3/S8P3
GYSTC, Tiger Flight, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Civil Air Patrol (CAP) volunteers and the staff of Richard B. Russell Airport will host the students through 4 learning stations where the students can investigate how and why an aircraft flies, what instruments and controls are required to safely fly an aircraft, how and why the pilot must understand and be aware of the weather through which he/she flies, what support is provided a pilot from the airport, and where are the 6 simple machines on the airplane. Students will be allowed to sit in an aircraft and thus experience the pilot’s environment. Students will also be provided an opportunity to fly an aircraft simulator. Lunch (provided by the schools) will be served picnic style either under the wing of a DC-3 or on the floor of a World War II hanger.
