On the second Saturday of each month (weather permitting, pilot and aircraft availability), TigerFlight pilots will give free flights for kids ages 11 to 18 at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
During the free orientation flights, TigerFlight pilots talk to the children about the airplanes and explain some of the sciences of flight. The activity supports the organization’s missions of leading the young to the dream of flight and teaching children to become Pilots in Command of their own lives. The children get a certificate showing they rode with TigerFlight. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Students and parents must arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. and must attend a 45-minute session including a Tiger Flight introduction, safety briefing, and motivational presentation. Flights for these 9:15 a.m. students will begin at 10 a.m. Those arriving after 9:15 a.m. may attend the pre-flight session at 10:15 a.m. and fly at 11 a.m. Free flights for kids are limited by the number of aircraft and pilots available that day. Registration made through this website are advised; flights will be provided on a first come first serve basis until we run out of time or pilots.
